Disgrifiad

A Cardiff Medical Society minutes book which contains entries from 1904 to 1923. The minutes book contains agendas for committee meetings and minutes from the meetings. Topics covered include committee elections, events and talks the society is putting on, papers that are being presented, social events, such as annual dinners and addresses, and information about the monthly meetings.

The Cardiff Medical Society was formed in 1870. It aims to encourage the advancement of medical knowledge and promote the welfare of the medical profession. The society is run by a committee of volunteers who organise a variety of educational events for society members, such as talks, lectures, paper presentations and discussions on topics relevant to the medical field with leading figures in the field. The society also holds social events, including an annual dinner. Every year the society awards a prize to a medical student studying in Wales for some research they have conducted. Initially, the society struggled to attract members. Today, the society is thriving and more than 400 medical practitioners in Cardiff and the surrounding area are members of the society who meet on a monthly basis.
