SHIPPING NOTES.

London, Tuesday Night.
The steamer Nadejda is considered overdue on her voyage from Nicolaieff for Nagasaki, and she was today put on the market, the rate paid being 4 guineas per cent. The Nadejda is of 3,849 tons gross register, built at Newcastle in 1896.
The Glasgow steamer Evandale, bound from Rangoon to the Levant, was in collision with the breakwater at Colombo, and is reported badly damaged. The vessel is of 3,775 tons gross register, belonging to the Mackill Steamship Company (Limited), and valued £30.000, whilst her rice cargo is worth an additional £60,000. She is insured on the London markets.
Reports concerning the Anchor liner California, ashore on Tory Island (Ireland), are more hopeful, and the rate paid on her in the “Room” to-day dropped from 60 guineas per cent, to 50 guineas per cent. The swell has subsided, and divers are better able get at the damage. If fine weather continues, they hope to be able to stop the leak under the stokehold, which would mean there was a chance at salvage.
The steamer Norway is still ashore off Cockburnspath (Berwickshire), and it is feared she will not re-float till she has been lightened.
