Harry M Riding (centre of picture) was a WW1 Conscientious Objector from Christchurch area of Newport. Harry was one of over 850 across Wales who refused to fight in the WW1 on grounds of conscience and was arrested and imprisoned for his beliefs. This image, taken in Dartmoor Prison when Harry was serving 'hard labour' alongside other 'conchies' imprisoned in WW1, is shared with kind permission of Harry's grand-daughter Marie Skinner, of Griffithstown, Torfaen.
