£115 to help victim of conmen

KIND-HEARTED residents of a Cardiff suburb have come to the rescue of a 71-year-old widow who was council [sic] out of her life savings.

Conmen posing as water board officials stole more than £2,500 from Mrs Susan Adams last month.

The two men claimed they had come to repair a faulty overflow in her one bedroom flat in Butetown - only to leave her in tears moments later.

“I was going to pay for my funeral when I'm gone,” said Mrs Adams.

But now generous residents and shopkeepers in the area have come to her aid.

They held a special prize bingo evening recently - and have now handed over £115 to compensate the widow for her loss.
