Many thanks for your comment, we have looked at the 3rd edition Ordnance Survey mapping – it shows the English Methodist church (Wesleyan) and the Wesleyan Methodist Church without stating specifically it is Welsh. On our Chapels database we have it as English Language, in the 2000 North Wales district churches list and in the Pritchard database it is named as ‘Saesneg’ when opened on the 8th April 1832. It is potentially a bit of a conundrum, so it would be extremely if you, or anyone else, could provide some more information that could help us in sorting it out - if you know some of the local history and could provide any references to a history of the chapels perhaps? … It is great to have people with local knowledge to be able to help with problems like this. This is the old Welsh Methodist Chapel - Capel Bethel. It was a Welsh language chapel until it closed in the 1980's. It was NEVER an English Wesleyan Chapel. The remaing congregation joined to meet as a 'separate' church using the English Wesleyan chapel building. I believe they still hold one Welsh language service every Sunday. I hope this explanation solves the conundrum.
