Copy of the Granston church burial registry recording the burial of eight unknown bodies recovered from the wreck of the CHARLES HOLMES at Aberbach in 1859:

Burials in the Parish of Granston in the county of Pembroke in the Year 1859
NAME: 2 bodies names unknown, 1 body name unknown, 4 bodies names unknown, I body name unknown
ABODE: Part of the crew of the Charles Holmes of Liverpool
WHEN BURIED: October 28th, October 29th, November 4th, November 5th 1859.
BY WHOM THE CEREMONY WAS PERFORMED: R. Daniel, Vicar.

In total, just 12 bodies of the 28 crew were recovered, two being buried Llanwnda, with the majority buried in the churchyard at Granston, close to where the ship was wrecked. A gravestone at Granston is dedicated to both Captain Bowlby, captain of the CHARLES HOLMES, and the crew.
