Chest Hospital Machynlleth 1980's. In the 1980's a new extension was added on to the former Chest Hospital. Work commenced in August 1988. The new wing would accommodate 15 beds for the elderly, 5 beds for the elderly mentally ill, day hospital, improved Physiotherapy department, new occupation Therapy department, X-ray and catering facilities. The whole complex will be called Bro Ddyfi Community Hospital but the new extension is known locally as the Twymyn.
