Page 1: 2 episodes of crime around Rhayader felt to be related to peoples ‘keen appreciation of what was right and fitting’ ... ‘ nothing more than revenge against those who had broken their code’. One crime relates to a vicar in Cwmddaudwr who was felt to be disrespecting the church and the people buried in the church yard. The other involves an incident which was referred to by the chief constable of the time as a ‘raid on the police’.
Page 2: Written history regarding the 1878 authorisation for the Chief Constable to appoint 6 additional constables for a period of 6 weeks to assist in preventing breaches of the peace in connection with the salmon laws. There are also accounts of a couple of poaching episodes.
Page 3: A brief written account of 2 incidents of law breaking which occured in Rhayader on the night of 6th November 1876. One being a breaking and entering of the Cwmdauddwr church and the other being the killing of the vicar of Rhayader's donkey. Despite a substantial monetary reward being offered the offenders were never caught.
