word said in the presence or hearing of the prisoner about any work to
be done at Newport I did not hear they say what they were going to
do at Newport - I let the prisoner have my tram and horse I sent
my servant with it his name is Henry - I dont now know his surname
he is now at my house - The tram horse and servant returned on Wednesday
night, after I lent it between 9 and 10 o'Clock - the prisoner promised
to pay for the tram, he has not paid for it - The prisoner went
away when the Tram went My Son lost a round Jacket and a
pistol which was good for nothing - a hat, a Cap and a knife,
- I have known the prisoner from 7 to 8 years I cant say no

of the prisoner I do not entertain any suspicion that he was
the person who took the things I have lost, not the least - I
dont think that it was very peaceable to come down to a
person's house in the way they did that time of night - I think
I heard the prisoner say it was a bad job being so late, yes
I believe the prisoner did mention that he said they ought to be
sooner down, because it was so late then.

I have seen him three times to the best of my knowledge, the
first I saw him was on Tuesday before the riot - I saw him
then in a room in his house He lives up between the Garn
