Saith that I know the Prisoner
to be a chartist. I have seen him
at Chartists Meetings at a Beer
House opposite the Salutation
Inn in Commercial Street
Newport. I used to attend
the Meetings until I was forbidden
by my Father this was about

it was Charles Waters now
in Custody who was the Secretary
I had a Ticket. The Ticket now
produced with the names Edward
Frost Treasurer and Charles Walters
Secretary is similar to the one
I had given me. I paid one shilling
on Entrance and per Week Members
paid one shilling on Entrance & one
penny Week towards the fund

Frost there but I remember a Letter
being read as coming from him
I remember Henry Frost (Son
of John Frost) being there several
times but whether he was a
member I cannot say Lads

hear what was going on
without being members. I used
to hear papers read at

The Northen Star and such papers
were read. The Secretary kept
the Books. I saw George Grove the
Prisoner) about he post office at
Newport on Sunday the 3rd Novemrabt 3 in the afternoon He told
me the Specials (meaning the
Special Constables) were ordered
out that they feared the Chartists

post for Letters for my Father

I do not know whether the Cap I speak of is what
is called a foraging Cap He generally wears
a Cap of that kind. The 3rd Novr was very wet
I have seen him sometimes in a great Coat
The Cap most always The great Coat when it is wet
