Sir,
I very much regret that I could not
reply to your last letter before. - Having been
from home it did not come into my hands
before yesterday - Mr George Essex will
forward his deposition by tomorrow's post.
I also further beg to lay before you another
statement in John Llewelyn's case which
I obtained this evening
"Charles James Phillips of the Town of P. Pool
confectioner - State's that " just before Mrs
Foxall left the Bristol House Beer Shop
(which Jones the Watchmaker afterwards took)
I was invited by William Shellard to go
in and have a Glass of Beer - Shellard and
I went upstairs to a room which was full

holding a meeting it was a Chartist Meeting
and John Llewelyn in the Chair - When I first
went in a Barber was adressing the Meeting
he had nearly concluded when I went in -
he concluded by saying that - "tho' he was a
young man he was an old republican -
and then called on the Chairman for some of
his good old fashioned doctrine for said
he "I like to to hear your good old fashioned sort"
Llewelyn then got up and adressed the Meeting
on the principles of the Charter - then a man
by the name of Alexander a Shoemaker from
Bristol then adressed them his speech and
conduct was so violent that I left the
Meeting - William Jones William Shellard
Godwin and many other well Known
Chartists were present".

Tudalen 3:
Phillips is one of the witnesses in Shellard 's
case and "ergo" will be in Monmouth and
it will be unnecessary to Spa him -
I am of opinion that you had better write
to Mr Leigh about getting Llewellyn's servant
examined or I am persuaded it will not be
done. I was from home on Monday or
I would have seen it done. - As I have now
other pressing business I advise you to write
to Mr Leigh - Anything you wish done in
this neighbourhood I will on receipt of
your letter do immediately -
I think Jones 's servant will be of service
in Llewellyn 's case. If you think so - do as
in case of Llewellyn 's
I am Sir
your's respectfully
