I am a telescope enthusiast. I live in Hampshire now.
So I have collected telescopes for 35 years.
I started a website to explain some of the history behind some unusual telescopes, and this is www.telescopecollector.co.uk.
Jan 2016 I bought on Ebay a scope that is reputed to have come from the wreck of the Eagle in 1859, off Abergele, so this one will be reported ion the site soon.
There is another story on there with Welsh connections, about Murray Gladstone, (first cousin of British PM William Gladstone) who lived in a country mansion near Penmaenmawr in Wales. He died on the beach at Tan Y Foel on Monday night the 23 August 1875. He drowned in a few inches of water, possibly was hit by a blunt instrument. Maybe his battered telescope described in this story was with him on the beach? Maybe....? Read more on
