Tea lady - Crafty cuppa participants response to looking at WW1 archive material was to create handmade roses from photos of memorabilia and as we drink lots of tea & coffee in the group we decided to decorate of mannequin with decorative tea bags. Tea during WW1 was a vital part of a soldiers rations. It was a familiar comfort and concealed the taste of water which was often transported to the front line in petrol cans. In Talbot house, a convalescence home for injured soldiers tea was always offered on arrival with a friendly face and a listening ear.
