Three postcard photographs of Siloam Baptist Chapel, Brynamman (with Ebenezer also in shot)

These were originally sent to Suzanne's great grandparents Richard Lewis and Sarah Meredith (daughter of David Meredith - see below) who married at Siloam before emigrating to Australia in 1884.
Siloam Chapel was opened in March 1872 with a seating capacity of 480. From 1868 services had been held at the 'Long Room' of the Farmers' Arms, under the Rev David Edwards aided by the Rev Charles Williams, Ystalyfera. There were c 120 members when it opened, this had increased to 430 when the Rev J Lee Davies died in 1922, and peaked at nearly 600 around 1932. A larger vestry was added in 1882.(History of Pontardawe & District, J Henry Davies.).
Members from Siloam helped to form Seion Chapel, Cwmgors in 1894, these included Mrs Mary Watkins, a daughter of Mr David Meredith,one-time manager of the GCG Collieries.In the third photograph Siloam is in the distance with Ebenezer Chapelin front.
