Disgrifiad

A floor plan for a proposed conversion of premises at 240 Bute street, in Cardiff, to a Salvation Army hostel for men. The plan is part of the planning application submitted to the Public Works Committee and it sets out development in four floors. It was completed in September 1934 and approved by the Committee on 17 January 1935. All dates are stamped on the plan.

The Salvation Army started in the east end of London in 1865, committed to serve God and to fight against social injustice. There are three Salvation Army branches in Cardiff: in Grangetown, Ely, and Splott.

The Salvation Army continues to carry out emergency services across the UK, every year they offer employment support up to 2500 people, meals for homeless, elderly and families in 62 residential Life houses and 414 Parent and Toddler clubs, where 14,742 attendants meet weekly.
