Other than showing a group of passengers on a Bristol Channel steamer, the photograph has little connection with the description. The steamer is the Barry, as noted on the card, and is most likely taken at Ilfracombe, where the local photographer would photograph groups on the arriving steamers, process the image and sell prints to the passengers prior to departure. Other than the date of Sep 1 it is difficult to establish the year, as the Barry operated between 1907 and 1914 and again from 1919 to 1925, before being renamed Waverley.
