The official opening of the library at Morrison Road, Sandfields, by the Mayor Cllr Ivor Williams, JP in November, 1961. Following the ceremony the Branch Librarian issued the first book to Mr. A. Leslie Evans, a noted historian and chairman of The Port Talbot Historical Society.
