Earl and Countess of Jersey and the Mayor of Aberavon pictured outside the Municipal Offices in Aberavon. From the 1840s Charles Tennant, lawyer to the Earl of Jersey, had dealings with the corrupt Aberavon Burgesses and Corporation regarding the rights and purchase of Aberavon Sands and Foreshore. It appears that Aberavon Sands came into the official ownership of the Jersey Estate in the late 1850s.
