At the outbreak of World War 2, it was widely recognised that there would be the need for many more police officers across the whole of the United Kingdom.
All forces took up the opportunity to recruit 'Auxiliary' police officers to help with the extra burden that would be placed on the country during the time of war. These officers were also known as War Reserve Constable's.
As part of their overall training, Auxiliary officers would have been issued with training booklets such as this.
A 76 page booklet issued by the Pembrokeshire Police, it outlined the work and duties required of the Auxiliary officer.
This booklet has an ink stamp of the Chief Constable's Office, Haverfordwest Castle. Dated 13th June 1941, it would have been issued at the height of the Second World War, and at a point in time where Wales and the rest of the UK were at very real threat of invasion from the German military forces.
