Disgrifiad

A clip from an oral history interview with Mr Timothy Hope, a participant in the Back-a-Yard project.

On 22 September 1955, Hurricane Janet struck Barbados. It went on to become the most powerful tropical cyclone of the 1955 Atlantic hurricane season, reaching Category 5 status with winds of 175 mph.

The hurricane killed 38 people in Barbados alone, caused five million dollars worth of damage, and left as many as 2000 Barbadians homeless.

Mr Hope recollects the day Hurricane Janet hit St Micheal's.
