Porthmadog & Glaslyn Estuary
Disgrifiadau
Aerial view of the Glaslyn Estuary and the town of Porthmadog. Note its harbour and embankment across the great marsh, constructed by William Madocks in 1811 to reclaim the land for agriculture. The diverted River Glaslyn soon scoured out anew natural harbour and had a deep enough draught for small ocean-going sailing ships and in 1825, the first public wharves were opened.
