The Market Hall was opened in 1894 on the site of the Blue Boar Fields, an open space that was used for markets and entertainments like boxing matches throughout the 1800's.
The Wheatsheaf Inn was the only building damaged by a falling bomb during WW2.

The wheatsheaf inn was being run in 1911 by my great grand aunt and her husband I've just found out by researching my family tree. What I lovely thing to find when I searched for a photo.
