Photograph taken at the Royal Porthcawl Golf Club on 24th May 1951. It shows PC Edward (Ted) Lewis of the Glamorgan Constabulary with American film star Marilyn Maxwell. Ted had been assigned duty to escort her and American legend Bob Hope, who was taking part in a golf tournament.

A sex symbol of the 1940's and 1950's Maxwell appeared in several films and radio programmes, and entertained the troops during World War II and the Korean War on USO (United Services Organisation) tours with Bob Hope.
