Buckley cricket club, Chester Road, Buckley 1914

This photo was taken at a charity match at Lane End two days before the outbreak of WW1. The women were wives and sisters of club members and provided the opposition. The men batted with hockey sticks and forfeited a run every time their top hats fell off but they still won easily!
