A photograph of Elizabeth Ellen Bennell, b.18/06/1927, who became one of the first Female Police Officers in either the Glamorgan Constabulary or Swansea Borough Police in the late 1940’s / early 1950’s. 

She later married, left the police and moved to Somerset. Her father was also a serving officer in Swansea post World War 1 - Police Sergeant Bennell.

At the time of writing this article (June 2026) Elizabeth alive, and aged 99 years. She is married and living in Somerset.
