These two friends emmigrated from Buckley together.

Benjamin Griffiths, eldest son of Benjamin, The Bridge Inn at Padeswood, emmigrated in 1911 to Whitt, near Hillsborough, Illinois, where his uncle Peter lived.

Peter had been out there for some time. He was born in the early 1880s at the Pren Hill and was about 27 when he emmigrated.

In 1914 he went to Canada and joined the Canadian Engineers and fought in WWI, returning afterwards to Illinois. He went to the state capital to ask if they would pay his fare over to Britain but they advised him to go to Canada and join there.

He had four children: one son, Robert, was killed in the far east in WWII; Ben, also wounded in the Far East, William, Rosemary.

Benjamin went to southern Chigago and joined the prison service until his retirement.

Amos Tarran joined the American army in 1917 and was killed in a motor accident in 1934 in Hillsborough.
