Letter from Edward Thomas to the poet Gordon Bottomley. Sent from Elses Farm, The Weald, Kent. Archival ref: 424/1/1/1/10/33
The Weald

My dear Gordon,

I am very sorry for
you ( & myself), & only wish
how that you had been able to say you
were feeling the better for your return.
Do let me know as soon as you are.
I see now that you will not like
to come to London again. I wish
London could come to you: anyhow,
I must, must I not?
So far I have been too busy.
& like not to brag, too disturbed, to
read your play. But I hope you
can let me keep it sometimes longer yet.
I write immediately. That
is why I am so brief. But here is
'Wales'. Keep the M. S.: I wish
it were a better one. I hadn't the
energy to clean the printer's marks from it;
but you will if you ever read it. You
will prefer to send it first in the proof
which I enclose - a proof which
I have improved in a hundred
small ways, tho I shall stsill
make use of your suggestions if you
make any. I have just finished
the first set of paged proofs.
Helen joins me in regrets
& heartiest good wishes & love to
you all.
I am every yours Edward Thomas
