My dear Gordon,
Here are some more good
quotations.
Thank you for your letter & I
feel it almost like personal praise to hear
you praise [illegible] "Felise", so
much have I been in love with her
& like personal abuse to hear you speak
so of Doughteys' women.
I liked Scott & saw as much
as possible of him. He is a pensioner
by Liverpool University now on
account of his book & is free to do
nearly what he likes (for a year). He was
in turn I think looking for some
work & also doing some diplomacy
for the 'Courier'. Abercrombie is
now in the the 'Courier' but Scott
does less for it. I don't like people
with small neat heads & exceedingly
precise speech as a rule.
Did your [illegible] suggest
hair dye to explain the something
evil which she saw through your nice-
and kindness?
I did see Scott's 'Liverpool'
& though it lacking in originality
of view & style especially as it
consciously aimed at both.
Yours ever
Edward Thomas
Ages' 'Drake' was evidently
inspired by 'Peter Pan!
