Letter from Edward Thomas to his wife, Helen Thomas. Archival reference: 424/1/1/1/1/175
Give my love to Mr and Mrs [illegible] when you go there,
kiss Merfyn for me.

Mind you send the photographs as soon as you can. I hope
you won't be very dissatisfied with such letters as this.
Ever and wholly yours
Edwy

My dearest friend,
Thank you very much for your letters. They really are a great
joy to me But for the next fortnight I must use all my
energies to keep alive: I fear I can scarcely write more than
a line or two. Much of my work remains still unrevised, and my
head is not at all in a fit state for an exam
So that I have to do two incompatible things
① to get a lot of work done. ② to get a lot
of exercise. How I shall solve the difficulty I
don't know. I am threatened with insomnia
and Edwards strongly recommends me to
sleep a night or two up at Boars Hill 3 miles
from Oxford - but I have no cash. Morgan

is rather better in health and spirits. Maine and
I lunched with him on Sunday.

Haynes and I may lunch with him on Tuesday
next.

The eights end today. Lincoln had a very good
boat but so far has only made two bumps. We
may make two more today.

Tonight there is a ladies concert at Lincoln but
I don't feel inclined to pay 7/6 to go as a
bachelor.
