My dearest friend
I got here long before 4 and am well pleased.
Of my only adventure on the way you have fortunately heard: don't give the cab man 1/- if you can help it, for he say 'made an agreement' to pay 5/- whereas I (illegible)
to pay constantly.
Morgan came to tea and is just going to dine here.
I am very tired and have slept twice between 3 and 7, still I am not smashed up: only the stagnant climate of Oxford has given me a headache.
Morgan has plans of a cheap sea voyage with a friend's ship to Sicily or the Canary Islands in a fortnight, but I can't yet decide to accept - my reasons
i) you need a holiday, and I want one.
