My dearest friend,

I had been getting duller
& duller until yesterday, when
your letter & a dozen glasses of
moselle and champagne made me
quite well by this morning. The occasion of the champagne was
the celebration of the 3 (illegible)
we made. We had a roaring
time in college till 12, Singing
"The Jovial Monk", "Mandalay"
"Kabul River" "The Old Gray Fox"
& many another song with a
good chorus.
Haynes arrives at 2.50
this afternoon. I fear he will
cut short my work of revision
tho he may help me to reach the
bien-être which is invaluable.
We shall lunch together with
Moreau tomorrow unless I lunch
with Elsey - who invited
me for that day weeks ago
but may forget. Monday we

(Haynes & I) spend on the
river. Wednesday Maine is
giving a picnic on the river,
& Elsey is coming.
Harry writes today very
cheerfully in spite of his illness.
I wanted to have his letter.
Life is no better than it
was but something - I
suppose it is my stomach -
makes me think it is.
I wish the photographer
would hurry up with your
