Your two letters came by the Sunday post just now, and I was very glad to have them, and sorry only that you would have expected a letter from me in vain.
It is a delicious summer morning and we are about to start on a walk to [illegible]. I really do wish you were here. I wished so at Canterbury yesterday and on our long walk back to the sea; for we were continually passed by swallows, and

As it is unless you have spent your money, I must borrow it for a day or two until I can sell some useless books at Oxford. Do you mind?
