Dearest Helen, I [illegible] to work 10 hours a day next vacation and dont see how I am to go away. Perhaps we shall and anyhow, we will in June. As for [illegible] oddly enough father of a Lincoln man is a big farmer close by!
You are right about the cup. Even now, when I am most plaintive about Lincoln, I foresee how deep could be my regrets and how tender the recollections, when I have left it forever. To leave
Anything for ever is sad. ‘Farewell’ - the very word is alone simpler, and a sigh is a breath from the grave.
Thank you for your delicious record of Philip Merfyn and yourself. Never omit it. Kiss him many times for me, and in doing so think you are kissing me.
