This is a copy of an original photograph belonging to Mr John Roberts RN retired. The image captures HMS Diadem at sea sometime after supporting the D-Day landing at Normandy in June 1944. Former Chief Petty Officer John "Bob" Roberts joined the Navy in 1943 and joined HMS Diadem in September 1944. He survived four convoys, from Scapa flow to Murmansk and several actions with Kriegsmarine warships. Following the war he went on to serve until 1967.
