Former Chief Petty Officer John "Bob" Roberts. John joined the Navy in 1943 and served in the surface fleet and submarine service. During his career, he survived four convoys, from Scapa flow to Murmansk and several actions where Kriegsmarine warships were engaged. Following the war he went on to serve until 1967, ending his career at the Royal Navy historic dockyard.
