Disgrifiad

Donated to the collection some time ago two restraints, issued to an Inspector Jenkins of the former Glamorgan Constabulary during late 19th century / Victorian era. It is believed that he was stationed at Aberavon / Port Talbot.
Due to their popularity with the Royal Irish Constabulary, the figure of eight shaped ones, gave rise to them being called 'Irish Eights'. The others are known as 'snips' Not all police forces issued snips and it was not uncommon for officers to purchase a set themselves.
I find WD40 is the best product to clean, and lubricate joints / hinges. A final wipe over with light coating of WD40 to help prevent any corrosion.
