Disgrifiad
A large, 42 inch high oak framed and glazed 'Illuminated Address' which was presented to Police Constable Charles Shellum of the Glamorgan Constabulary. It records the high esteem in which he was held, having been the local Police Constable for the Pontypridd area known as 'Upper Boat', and is signed by the members of the Urban District Council. It comprises of a hand crafted and hand written illuminated address with six original period postcards - three of Constable Shellum, his wife and his young son and three original postcard photos of Upper Boat. I believe that two of the postcards show Crawshay's Forest Iron Steel and Tin Plate Works. The colours are all applied by the illuminator. Dated April 1913 and records the maker as: J. Jones, Illuminator, Penydarren, Merthyr. A superb, handmade quality item of which very few still exist. *The Ross Mather Police memorabilia of Wales Collection.
