Mallwyd Bridge Late 1930s

Disgrifiadau

Mallwyd Bridge. The date in uncertain but could be as late as the 1950s. It was probably built in the 1770s to replace earlier bridges of wood and ropes on stone pillars in the river bed that were regularly being destroyed by floods. It is not listed and was unsympathetically repaired by the local authority when the parapets were damaged by heavy lorries following the floods of 1963 when it was the only crossing between Dinas Mawddwy and Machynlleth until the new bridge were built.
