Fungi facts:This species grows on buried wood in forests and has been recorded in Parks and gardens. It has been known to burst through tarmac and lift paving stones and this is due to the internal structure of the stem. It can be eaten but poisonous when consumed in conjunction with alcohol where in extreme cases can cause heart attacks.
