Scientific Name:Chlorociboria aeruginascens
Fungi facts:This little ‘cup’ fungus mainly grows on dead branches of oak and stains the wood turquoise green. This pigmented wood is much sought after by woodworkers as it is used for marquetry in the manufacture of ‘Tunbridgeware’. The use of this wood known as “green-oak” was originally made famous by the Italians in the 15th and 16th century.
