Opened on 5th. June 1930. It was 110 yards in length and 30 yards wide and had a non slip base. It contained 775,000 gallons of pure sea water which was constantly changed and sterilised at the rate of 95,000 gallons an hour. The pool was designed by A.A.Goodall and was constructed by direct labour under his supervision. There were over 300 separate cubicles together with tea rooms, slipper baths and showers. During the 1930 season 223,000 people passed through the turnstiles.
