Pauline Penrose WAAF

[This collection pulls together the 'story' of Pauline Penrose, who served on frontline RAF fighter stations as a WAAF aircraft plotter during WW2. Now 100yrs old and living in Llechryd, Ceredigion, Pauline looks back on her life from a childhood in London, relatives who served in the Boer War, WW1, experiencing the London Blitz, and her early employment as a draughtswoman. As a WAAF during the War, Pauline served at RAF Hornchurch and RAF North Weald where her skills as a draughtswoman were put to good use alongside the Polish and Allied fighter squadrons based at these frontline stations. She also spent time with an Air Sea Rescue squadron. The material contained in Pauline's collection covers an audio recorded interview with her from September 2021, written transcript, short biography, and photographs, including a copy of the original canvas she painted for a squadron Christmas Card in December 1944.]
